It drives like a toy, its quick, and the clutch is annoyingly stiff
Ive been driving it this past week so that I can get used to it and teach the Girlfriend how to drive it. I’m starting to wonder if it may be too much for her to handle. Also kinda wish it was an automatic

Me too, but it kinda bugs me that the speedo only goes down to 5mph. What spec was yours?

The 5 speeds works a treat with the 4.0, it was a great little tow vehicle.

Your XJ and mine are siblings. ‘95 Sport, 4.0 4x4 but it has the AW4.

I’d probably DD that instead of the Equinox.
I remember my 93 being fairly easy, compared to the 95ish Chevy 350 I pushed the clutch in last year.

I loved my 93 with a 5 speed even despite the 4 cylinder. Clutch wasn’t tough at all... hmm

I think this one is cable actuated, could possibly use a cable replacement

No, 95 XJ is hydraulic clutch. Start there, sounds like you have an issue with either master or slave. I would love a stick shift XJ a dissapearing breed for sure.

My 93 I’m nearly certain was hydraulic. There was a pushrod that went through the firewall and it was not connected on the opposite side properly. So if you sidestepped the pedal it would pop up and the rod would come out of the firewall and hang, meaning that the next time you pushed in the pedal it would go right to the floor. Whereupon it would short out the horn wire and honk the horn. But I digress...

Looks and sounds familiar. My ‘95 5 speed has a heavy clutch as well. And the 3.07's it came with stock, along with the 31" tires don’t make slow speed off-roading the easiest. Always modulating the clutch, and man does my leg get tired!
